Bill on Surveillance Transparency

Sens. Al Franken (D-Minn.) and Dean Heller (R-Nev.) have reintroduced the surveillance Transparency Act of 2013, an endeavor to extend transparency once it involves government police investigation of the general public.

Franken signaled he would hold a hearing on the bill November. 13.

The bill, that was 1st introduced over the summer, would boost news of programs underneath the PATRIOT Act and therefore the Foreign Intelligence investigation Act (FISA).

Franken has added 2 new provisions to create it clear that news needs within the bill wouldn’t themselves result in any new assortment of private info or incur any new disbursement.

Franken says the presentation of the bill was in response to 60 leading web firms and support teams WHO recently wrote the President and general assembly leaders to demand a lot of government revealing on police investigation programs.”
